Nostalgia Hotel

Located in the hearts of Tiong Bahru, we are here at Nostalgia Hotel for its breakfast buffet! I know many would think of the superb local delicacies such as chwee kueh in the Tiong Bahru Market for breakfast, but we are here to provide an alternative, a western style breakfast spread for those who prefers a peaceful air-conditioned area with comfortable sofa seats :)

The Nostalgia Hotel has quite an impressive interior for its small and compact area, looks kinda classy BUT, their service.. really has alot to improve on, i mean seriously. My friend and I reached about half an hour before the buffet time, and to our surprise, there wasn't a single soul at the reception area, or anywhere we could find. So, we waited, and waited until 7am, finally found a staff, asked for the breakfast buffet and brought us to our seats. Seriously, it was like.. mood ruined 70% even before the meal, disappointing.


For a start, their interior, all the old antiques of the past..

The pretty ambience, makes you feel so comfortable and relaxed. Oh by the way, you get to choose if you want an indoor or outdoor seat. We chose the indoors as the bouncy sofa seats were too tempting.

The super plain cereal with milk. No choices on the variety of cereals. Could have been better if there were other cereals such as the common favourites Honeystars or Koko Krunch, etc. Also, a few berries should be added for their healthier taste and colors in presentation.  

Yoghurt on fruits. The melons were sweet but the yoghurt was just.. too sour for breakfast. Would prefer it if they separated the yoghurt from the fruit for us to dip. Better still, change the yoghurt. Haha

Pancakes with strawberries! Soft and sweet. Taste a little like the McDonald's hotcakes! Pretty to the eyes and stomach. Now we are talking! Haha

Eggs Benedict. Okay, this is definitely the main highlight of the breakfast buffet! The hollandaise sauce was awesome! It was sweet, a little sour, and very flavorful! The muffins were also not too hard and chewy. Awesome! Except the egg yolk could have been more runny. A defnite must try!

The American Breakfast set. (includes cereals with milk) You can choose any ways you want your eggs to be done and they will try to do it for you. I chose omelette with mushrooms, onions,  ham and cheese. It was not overly cooked or too runny, just the way I like it ;) The bacons and hashbrown were fried to golden crispy. Thumbs up for the hashbrown especially. For the sausage and bread, it was just like any normal ones but still yummy :) Loved this American Buffet!

 

Other than the above, we also had the Chicken Congee but no photos were taken as our camera died on us. The congee was normal, not too salty, smooth and flavorful. Overall, besides its poor service, the food and ambience were good! Loved the food quality and that's more than enough to get me returning there anytime soon! :)
